ADAPATIONS is award winning firm founded and led by NINA ILIEVA. The firm has won national and international awards, such as 40 under 40 best European Architects, as well as United Nation Global award for Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements.
Nina Ilieva has graduate with Master degrees in Architecture and Urbanism from both Europe and United States : Southern California Institute of Architecture, University of Houston, Technical University in Graz and University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Currently Nina IlIEVA is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYIT, and Parsons the New School of Design, and her work was exhibited and published nationally and internationally, such as Venice Biennale, Sofia Architecture Week, Delft University, Tirana, Berlin, Shenghen , NY and etc.
ADATATIONS has projects both in Europe and USA,most recent projects include multifamily projects in Brooklyn, NY and in Sofia , Bulgaria.
The firm More than 3 million Bulgarians had left the country in the past 23 years and stayed away. In the end, because ultimately it is easier to go to work and live in the highly developed country, offering better opportunities, than to make Bulgaria function like one.
ADAPTAtions is set to prove that in Bulgaria there are opportunities for young people to work and live, and be the leaders in the field. ADAPTations won an EU grant to prevent this “brain drain “and give the opportunities to young unemployed architects under 29 to work in their own country, instead of immigrating abroad.
Not only the projects, but also the process of working is an example for sustainability, using high ethical standards for social inclusion, by creating opportunities for young graduate unemployed architects in Bulgaria, who are all supported by this EU program.
