COLLECTIVE is an international architecture office practicing Architecture, Interiors, Urban Design and Exhibition Design. They are headquartered in Hong Kong, with teams in London, Madrid, Los Angeles, and Perth.
COLLECTIVE remains globally oriented while strongly rooted in Asia. They are a research and concept driven practice that offers powerful narratives, and insists on Clarity, Beauty and Function.
COLLECTIVE practices design as a Methodology, instead of a Style. They offer a diverse portfolio of work, eager to work with new typologies while avoiding repetitive aesthetic approaches.
The nature of COLLECTIVE focuses not on a single creator but a Collective of Critics. Building on the convergence of a ‘collective’ of diverse merits, they engage projects with the team’s wide spectrum of international expertise, along with their collaborators and clients worldwide in various disciplines, challenging the status quo of the “named” architecture offices.
Founded by Betty Ng in 2015, COLLECTIVE is co-directed by Chi Yan Chan, Juan Minguez and Katja Lam. This is a diverse team with an intercontinental background. The directors at COLLECTIVE have previously practiced at Pritzker Prize winning studios of Rem Koolhaas/OMA and Herzog & de Meuron, leading projects worldwide in Directorship and Senior positions.
COLLECTIVE is a RIBA Chartered Practice.
