22@ is an urban redevelopment project currently being carried out in the Poble Nou neighborhood of Barcelona. It emphasizes re-densification of an industrial district into a mixed-use, multi-program site. 60,000sqm of Residences, offices, warehouses, retail space, and academic space are incorporated into this proposal for two blocks of the neighborhood.This proposal also gives valuable, continuous, and public open space to the city. Each open space caters to adjacent programs, which were carefully designed to promote intimacy. Intimacy, as in the appropriate level of comfort due a variety of factors, was employed as a mapping tool that helped make difficult design choices.This was a competition proposal completed in Fall 2009 for the Universitat de Polytecnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona, under the supervision of Professors Santi Ibarra and Toni Montes.
