The project in relation to the notification of the
competition represents a dynamic and
flexible space. The dimensional limits fixed by the notification have been
reinterpreted through a module of dimensions…
The final volume
has been obtained through the slipping and the multiplication of the
base module with a clear functional view
starting from the outside.
Every module has its own function but, at the same
time, it offers the possibility of a
complete open space through mobile walls or pieces of furniture meant as opaque screens.
The whole project has been divided in four areas of
interest: workshop, events, bar and tea room.
For each macro area have been thought several/
different functions.
From the main entrance the visitor can reach the area
of the exhibition where some light spots
have been set. They have the double function of
supplementing the exhibition and their position lead the visitor through the place.
The workshop area, just after the exhibition area, is
full of light thanks to large splayed windows
in the shape of bow windows. The flexibility in the use of this space is
underlined by trestle tables whose tops
are the very doors of the screen structure where the trestles are kept
after using.
The very heart is of the structure is the area of the
events. It is characterized by terrace steps which serve as an amphitheatre for
concerts, forums and meetings. Moreover the risers of the steps have the double
function of seats and bookcases.
The feature of the place is underlined also by the
choice to use mobile walls. They give the place a cosy and flexible quality.
The mobile piece of forniture is set on wooden rails
to allow this area to be separated or
united with the workshop zone when required. The other walls are
characterized by thin mobile adjustable blades. These ones have the interior
side covered with nicely coloured insulating material which grants a good sound-proofing and aesthetic standards.
After the area of the events there is the bar. Here
are provided a zone for resting with tables and chairs and the bar for a quick
drink.
Again the terrace of steps plays a main role because ,
properly pierced, it serves as a store
for bar tools and goods. Great attention has been given to the study of heights
of the components till a maximum of 2.10 metres.
The wooden snack-bar shows cuts where the stools can be kept to make floor
cleaning easier. Moreover the snack-bar is perfectly set in a wide bow-window
which favours a proper lighting of the room; it offers also some additional place to the containers for recyclable waste .
The last area is the tea-room which appears as an
internal/external, open/close space.
The brise soleil of the roof and the main façade
allows a perfect micro climate offering the possibility of orienteering the
wooden blades for better comfort; the side façade has a sheet-steel cover and a
window whose height allows to watch outside from a sitting position.
A main role is played by the tree which can be seen
directly from the tea-room and indirectly from the other areas through transparent and visual effects.
