Located in downtown Gresham, Arts Plaza Housing will expand the area’s commercial core and act as a catalyst for future development. The apartments will provide 97 new units to Gresham residents and energize the pedestrian streetscape with porches, ample decks, landscaping, and outdoor spaces. The design establishes a precedent for quality and timelessness while also reflecting the creative spirit of the plaza.
The L-shaped building creates a strong and active street edge along NE 2nd Street with a café and adjacent entry plaza and ground floor full width covered porches within a continuous arcade for the apartments along this street. The entry plaza works in tandem with the corner café as an outdoor room and connects through the building to the elevator lobby and parking beyond. This plaza will orient residents as they move through all levels of the buildings with overlooking windows as you exit the elevator.
Arts Plaza features a richly textured brick façade utilized in a modern iteration. This classic material works to integrate this building among the existing and historic brick buildings throughout downtown. In addition, the building features vertical bays for the living rooms of the units along the back that create depth and texture to this façade.
