With the gaming and sports betting laws changing in some states, more casinos are rethinking their gaming floors to include sportsbooks. The gaming and hospitality industries are shifting away from traditional casino design to better align with the preferences of their customers who are looking for more immersive and social experiences. DMAC Architecture did exactly that for the BetRivers Sportsbook at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.
Initially, the design team beta tested a temporary sportsbook space before ownership decided to invest $5 million into designing and building a larger, permanent sportsbook. The new 5,500-square-foot BetRivers Sportsbook is at the heart of the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, in the space previously occupied by an underutilized lounge, now boosting the excitement of the entire gaming floor. For professional sports bettors or rookies looking to cheer on their favorite teams, this upscale sportsbook is the ultimate game day destination. It seamlessly blends high tech, comfort, F&B, and live sports entertainment of all sorts. It features two massive 50-foot LED monitors, twenty-four 86” flat screens, and custom club seating‒each with its own warm wood drink table including built-in charging stations. The ultra luxurious lounge includes club chairs and table seating for approximately 195 guests, who can watch multiple games from the comfort of their chair, with spectacular 360-degree sightlines of the action. The monitors and screens are suspended from a robust metal-clad truss defining the lounge from the gaming floor and creating a vaulted space from within.
The team paid attention to the custom, side-by-side club seating, which through design testing, has become a patron preference for sportsbook lounges. The sportsbook also includes 33 self-service betting kiosks and six betting windows. The 48-foot bar is strategically located to service the sportsbook lounge and gaming floor.
By making this luxury lounge spacious, inviting, interactive and accessible, the newly constructed BetRivers Sportsbook engages the adjoining elements of the surrounding, lively environment of the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.
