Colorado College (CC) selected JLG through a national design competition for their new hockey arena & natatorium on the Colorado College campus. The overall concept focuses on big picture campus goals while creating an iconic campus event space and sports centerpiece. With one major goal being a net-zero facility — the building is meant to be an aspirational model of accessibility and sustainability for students and the nation. The building’s floorplan is organized to create the perfect hockey and event environment — seating organized around the entire bowl allows for improved spectator sightlines and engages the fans to become part of the game, multiple seating types meet every fan’s expectations, concessions located at the corners reduce interference with concourse circulation, and lower level spaces made flexible and available to students and staff during the off-season. The arena will be leveraged as the ultimate recruitment tool for Colorado College by featuring an exciting and energetic exterior design, a literal WOW experience when entering the lobby, a heavily-branded team suite entry that celebrates the CC tradition, and an uniquely shaped locker room that emulates the CC Tiger logo.
