Residential Building Design in Dezashib, Tehran: Integrating Local Identity with Architectural Innovation:
Dezashib, as one of the old and identity-rich neighborhoods of Tehran, strives to preserve its cultural values. This has been the main inspiration in the design process of the Dezashib residential project. In this project, the priority was to reflect cultural roots and authenticity in the architectural structure, alongside meeting contemporary needs.
Architectural Innovation Considering Constraints:
In designing this complex, despite legal constraints and client demands, a pattern of Iranian architecture with a new expression has been employed. Unlike the conventional layout of iwans, in this project, two iwans are designed back-to-back. This change not only refers to the Iranian design style but also transforms the introverted structure into an extroverted one, increasing light exposure on both facades of the building and reducing the need for internal light wells like atriums and patios.
Spatial Organization and Functional Segregation:
One of the strengths of this design is the creation of spatial hierarchy in the entrance path using iwans and space segregation. This spatial structure effectively separates the private home area from the public space, creating a kind of spatial hierarchy for residents’ entry. In the internal plan, spaces are arranged with an approach to segregate public and private areas to ensure privacy.
Iranian Materials and Techniques:
In selecting materials, the use of Iranian bricks and their execution principles have been considered. Execution details like brickwork in the building facade have been employed to connect the past and present, reflecting the building’s design approach.
A Unique Experience for Users and Viewers:
Another goal of this project is to focus on user experience. By creating textures and details in the building structure, each visitor can have a unique and different experience of the space based on their personal perspective. This approach brings a new interaction between culture and architecture to the heart of Dezashib, Tehran.
