"The new restaurant from the creators of Milk Bar" - sounds at first like another promise gastro-trend. If a year ago Kyiv tasted almond milk, now on the menu of the new institution dictate designer hotdogs developed brand-chef of New York and cocktail menu created by Moscow fashion bartender.
Serve hot dogs fancy you will be in a special place, namely the ancient walls of the synagogue and the small hall of the former cinema "Kinopanorama." During the project there was the main task - to preserve and recreate the spirit of iconic buildings of the past. It turned out that the space is filled with history: the building was built as a synagogue in 1898 and performed its function until the 1930s. When clearing the old brickwork was found many bricks with inscriptions in Hebrew that led to study the past. Later, by order of the authorities prayer hall was converted into a gym, which was used college physical education. After the war the building is relatively well preserved, given the club printers. But in the years 1957-1958 was reconstructed former synagogue in cinema with a significant expansion and complete change of facade. Cinema was named "Kinopanorama" and became the first Soviet panoramic cinema, which operates to this day.
The room is small ancient theater halls were rented and received a studio Makhno in a shoe store, completely covered with plasterboard and suspended ceilings. Through dismantling the ceiling and walls, were those authentic interior elements that have been carefully preserved and restored, such as gypsum rosettes and moldings, portals suite between pylons, incredible turquoise color of the ceiling. These findings inspired the team and work on the subject went still active.
Construction began in September 2014. For starters cleared old bricklaying and held all utilities. Loftovu style prompted the premises. In the end, formed gentleman set: zashtukaturena old brick, open electric wires, large windows with iron walls, factory lamps, two walls, lined happened unpainted boards, rough metal shelves for bottles on the bar, metallic mesh, which combines the function of wall decor and partitions. Plates, incidentally, also with the past, ever since they were beaten grocery boxes.
The project team worked with three architects. Lighting for all three rooms Sergey Makhno developed. The basis of the author's concept of interior design lay: 90% of the furniture and lights have been designed and produced in a studio in Ukraine, according to our drawings. The main thing in the interior - a combination of rough and elegant. The designers have played on the contrast, leaving a gold molding along with nekatanym bare metal and brick. For elegance meet and oil paintings, written specifically for this project. They have a sense of humor and irony: DOGS - main characters works - appear in the images of visitors; among them - and macho coquette, "patsanchyk in the area" and friendly little family.
Center interyernoyi composition - the 10-meter bar, decorative metal pipes with ten lights "Lantern" design Sergei Makhno. Large chrome modern kitchen placed deep in the bar and separated from it by a wall of glass, attracts the attention of visitors to the mystery of what is happening in the kitchen.
The ease of communication, match tastes and common understanding between the customer and helped to create an interior designer in no time: six months on a former shoe store, a new bar «DOGS and TAILS».
