The design renovation of Equinox respected the zig-zag building form, multi-story atrium layout, and open ceiling features of the original building shell, and enhanced visual connection and skin transparency between tenant space, common space and outdoor environment.
Within this context, a continuous curve was developed as the main thread in the club, which emerged from the toe lights at atrium entry, slid into the portal, ascended to the ceiling, and extended to the back of the club. As the ceiling feature peeled off into a double curve, a gold liner was revealed between two soffits to add a new layer of sophistication to the finish palette, and casted a glow on the aluminum plates and feature tiles around all-glass enclosure at the group fitness studio. The fluted feature columns were casted in GFRG with a dip of gold paint at bottom, which became an interesting focal point encouraging people to touch and experience the subtlety of its surface texture.
