Fulfilling an unmet need in the coworking marketplace, Ethos Society was created to be the supportive, communal workspace where inspired, like-hearted teams and individuals can follow their work passions. The design team collaborated with Ethos Society in designing its very first coworking space located in the heart of Koreatown, known for its vibrant energy and growing creative talents. Ethos Society's new space offers a bespoke, creative environment that supports a variety of industries — from business and technology to music and the arts.
The 22,000-square foot coworking space is located in a monumental building from the 1980s, which offers 360-degree views of the Los Angeles skyline. The space evokes the client’s dreamer spirit with its lighter, dreamlike state-inspired color palette and saturations that transition from light to dark. Infused with hospitality-inspired finishes, as well as airy and dreamy details such as freckled terrazzo, Ethos Society's inspiring coworking space features high-end furniture with a design that nods to the lighter palette and aesthetics of Los Angeles as a creative hub.
Ethos Society distinguishes itself from traditional coworking spaces by adding personalized services and elevated office amenities, as well as providing guests with a decentralized, yet communal environment. Users have access to premier amenities, including an on-site concierge, a photo booth studio, makerspaces, and communal areas that can be transformed into event spaces where guests can connect, collaborate, and form a close-knit community.
Less intimidating and more intimate and multifunctional, the project provides a strong visual connection from end to end. The design team also provided brand design services, which contributed to crafting and communicating the Ethos Society mission through an underground approach to signage and wayfinding. Strategically placed environmental graphics or “breadcrumbs” lead visitors from the streets of Koreatown, to the building, and all the way up to the coworking space.
