"Tour de Suisse Rad AG" commissioned its new bicycle factory directly at the popular cycle path around Lake Constance. The building combines production, offices, storage, exhibition space and a café under one roof.
A striking entrance façade in exposed concrete plays host to the square in front of the building, where customers can take a short break, have a drink or pump up their bikes. From there, the building develops over 100m on two floors along an interregional road and tracks.
Large façade units divide the façade into a rhythmic sequence. On the east side facing a roundabout, a large shop window provides space to present the company and its products. In the open café and exhibition area, large-format openings provide a view and allow good lighting of the workplaces. The storage area is illuminated by translucent vertical strips and makes it clear that the aspirations here go beyond purely functional architecture.
