We are excited to announce the design of the Flushing Meadows Café, a new food service kiosk set to enhance the vibrant experience of Flushing Meadows Park. Strategically located on David Dinkins Circle, the café is just steps away from the renowned tennis center, making it the perfect spot for athletes, visitors, and park-goers to unwind and enjoy delicious refreshments.
The Flushing Meadows Café is designed to reflect a thoughtful balance between modern functionality and natural aesthetics. Constructed primarily from wood, the structure is carefully chosen to harmonize with the lush greenery surrounding it, while preserving the park's historic character. Topping the café is a striking copper roof, an elegant feature designed to weather gracefully over time, developing a patina that enhances its connection to the natural environment.
Paying homage to the park’s history as the site of the 1964 World’s Fair, the Flushing Meadows Café is more than just a refreshment kiosk—it’s a destination. The design is thoughtfully integrated into the park’s landscape, providing an inviting space for visitors to pause, connect with the surroundings, and appreciate the unique character of this iconic public space. Whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll, attending a tennis match, or exploring the park’s many attractions, the Flushing Meadows Café will offer a welcoming place to relax and recharge.
