Glasvasen, office building in Malmö.
The thing about Glasvasen is not what it looks like. It's why it does it. The soft, organic shape allows the stream of people moving through the area to flow naturally. Taking a shortcut. We believe in shaping buildings and neighborhoods with people in mind, which is why Glasvasen looks the way it does. Curvy and shimmering green. A jewel in the city.
The architecture
Early on in the project, we saw the need for a path for pedestrians and cyclists, from the new district of Nyhamnen in the north to the city center and further down to the old parts of Malmö. This need is the background to the shape of Glasvasen.
Glasvasen and the environment
Glasvasen is environmentally friendly and built with sustainable materials. The level of technical innovation is high and energy consumption is low. The façade consists of 3,500 square meters of glass that is environmentally classified according to Breeam Excellent. On the roof there is 1 770 square meters of green space where 42 species of herbs and sedum create a small oasis of biodiversity in central Malmö.
In 2018, Glasvasen was a finalist for the Green Lance, the City of Malmö's award for environmentally sustainable construction. The jury's motivation: In Malmö's most communicative location, high environmental ambitions are combined with an organic, eye-catching architecture in the Glasvasen office building. Both the indoor environment and the urban environment are made with great care and the possibilities of technology are well utilized. Green leases and a business concept with a focus on sustainability and a varied range of services help to make the whole thing complete.
