The Grand Marina Tokyo Park Tower Kachidoki is a large-scale, mix-use commercial development which will bring more value to the Grand Marina Tokyo near Ginza in central Tokyo.
The project harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding areas, not only in the architecture and interior design but also in its landscape design along the bridge, shoreline and well connected public spaces with direct train station access. The entire concept evokes an image of an exclusive urban marina overlooking the river and ocean nestled centrally in a global metropolitan hub. The design in every aspect of the property is worthy of a place named Grand Marina Tokyo.
The façade design takes advantage of the waterfront towers by forming dynamic sails which seem to float across the water`s surface. These Sailing Towers sharply glide up into the sky while incorporating curved lines producing gentle movement throughout. The distinct wing-like shapes of each of the two towers act as a unified volume that overlooks the ocean sculpting a layered scenery distinct to the waterfront property.
The design of the Tokyo Park Tower Kachidoki Mid entrance is directly connected to the subway from the first basement floor. It is designed to flow out from a helix staircase lofted up to the first-floor garden, therein, public spaces dot the hallway leading to and from the offices, stores, and high-rise residences. The project plan weaves together diverse multi-purpose spaces on the eighth floor, which will also visually separate the upper and lower floors externally.
The welcoming lounge will stand out through the use of wood and the waterfront view. This design successfully achieves a relaxing deck-like atmosphere you would experience on a boat. Functional spaces will also span out across the entire eighth floor in the same way as it would in a hotel with everything from guest rooms and a study lounge to party rooms and a cinema and a fitness area.
The study lounge offers not only a large table but also a comfortable human-scale counter to use for work, hobbies, and any other interests. The lounge and kids party rooms will leverage glass partitions spanning out seamlessly into the public space with a fully integrated design whether in use or not.
The Tokyo Park Tower Kachidoki South will present a spacious grand entrance with a dynamic wall curvature evoking images of a rocky cliff. The wall stands as if sculpted by waves to produce flow and movement through the curves of the layered rock. The two-story elevated space also employs an open glass façade tracing the marina garden outside. The design accentuates the space as a step lounge with a staircase leading up to the second floor for a transient view achieved by a variety of viewpoints. As visitors move into the wall of cliff stratum, they will find themselves in a sibylline elevator hall inspired by the deep sea. The walls of the elevator hall and entrance lounge link through a geometry of curved lines reminiscent of carved rock. This will highlight inner and outer worlds which seem carved out of one massive cliff for us all to see. The design balances the interior and exterior of two separate walls in this way to produce one stunningly cohesive integrated story.
Visitors will find a public space on the second floor at the top of the step lounge. The flow of traffic will transport them into the public space by building excitement as one approaches the second floor with the feel of a sandy beach snuggled up against a large rock cliff. Once through, the design reveals a study space surrounded by books with a calming corridor warm with wood. A canal side terrace contrasts with this book corridor with a luxuriously spacious balcony area blurring the boundaries between interior and the exterior where anyone can spend time on the waterfront. A first-floor green side cottage, laundry and playground facing the outdoor barbecue and other areas in the garden welcome all with inviting promises of relaxation which is achieved through the natural wood and colours extending the lush greenery from outside into the interior.
As the spot highest in the sky, the rooftop lounge will become a tremendously freeing space with a curved bar in the shape of shells on a sandy beach incorporated into the space with a dynamic central staircase. This unique venue offers a special way to pass the time while delighting in the waterfront view and urban nightscape. The outdoor terrace will sink down into the water’s surface like a bow looking out over the vast ocean. The water glitters in the sunlight and dances in the night as the sound of flowing water plays a relaxing rhythm to everyone within completely open space.
The model room features round installations in a design that embodies the marine taste and warmth of a ship’s cabin. The bright tones of high-quality materials have a luxurious presence that is achieved through wood with a vintage roughness yet sleek feel.
The symmetrical foyer has a floor pattern beckoning one’s gaze to the spectacular view unfolding toward the canal, which naturally leads visitors into the living room. The brilliant blue interior there establishes a modern space where anyone can spend a leisurely time in an extraordinary space consolidated by the atmosphere of Grand Marina Tokyo.
The landscape opening onto the waterfront has been perfectly designed for Grand Marina Tokyo as an exclusive urban marina for people from all walks of life to enjoy. The central lagoon well-defined by palm trees has leaf-shaped steps harmoniously arranged around a vivid fountain, which presents a fun and exotic ambiance. The design takes full advantage of the unique waterfront in Kachidoki to create a setting where everyone can find either an opportunity for daily relaxation or some time for a special occasion. The waterfront deck area creates a sense of continuity with the commercial spaces, allowing for easy access with an array of beautiful views of the waterside, that can be leisurely enjoyed using the range of sofas, chairs, and tables that populate the space. Step into an organic green environment from the deck, where strolling paths can be found, complemented by benches and tables, allowing for a relaxing space to work or pause for a moment under the dappled light filtered through the trees overhead.
Grand Marina Tokyo has a metro pavilion directly connected to Kachidoki where Park Tower Tokyo will ensure worry-free access to the train station even on the rainiest of days through its arcade. The first underground floor of the metro pavilion will boast not only convenience but will also act as a gateway to the city. The delicate curvature of the design exudes a feel of the waves distinct to a port city. The exterior design of the pavilion curves are suggestive of a marine vessel that is welcoming every visitor to the city. At the top of the landscaped stairs, visitors will feel as though they have arrived at their last stop.
The footbridge will cross the Asashio Canal to Grand Marina Tokyo with a soft arching design reminiscent of gentle waves rolling over the water’s surface. The continuous white material of the bridge hovering above the water will emphasize the beauty of the waves using the subtle movement in the rhythm of the water’s surface.
The shadows of the bridge cast onto the water’s surface will tantalize the imagination through the creation of dynamic natural patterns generated by the waves overlapping one another. The design creates the feeling of movement through the use of fluctuating three-dimensional geometric changes that will delight passing pedestrians as they walk across.
