Guangci Charity Park Social Housing is a green oasis in the middle of Taipei city, providing the citizen of Taipei with affordable housing designed with environment in mind, incorporating into a thriving community in the middle of Taipei City.
Responding to the housing need in Taipei city, the design is a 27-floor public housing with four basement levels meeting the need for public social needs and parking spaces for residents and the neighborhood school district. The unit ranges from one-bedroom types for individuals for three-bedroom kinds for families and additionally provides universally accessible units for people in need. The universally accessible design takes into consideration of the user's relationship with all furniture and their daily activity. The design aims to translate the greenery into a vertical connection, providing the residents with optimal living spaces. Implementing multiple intimate sky gardens affords views and leisure spaces, while the mid-level open space caters to outdoor activities for children. The design provides the community with an urban green garden on multiple vertical levels, with top level of the building offering panoramic vistas of the city's surrounding mountains and the view of the iconic Taipei 101.
Designed with community and environment in mind, Guangci Charity Park Social Housing has been certified Golden Label for both Green Building and Intelligent Building, as well as several Public Construction Awards. The design is not only sustainable and environmentally responsible but also maximizes the green spaces to benefit the social interaction of this community. Integrating the environmental greenery context to enrich the daily life quality of the residents and provide a sustainable architecture and community. Incorporating multiple social work functions, including the social work agency, public housing, neighborhood shops, etc., with a mismatch of volumes creating vertical public open spaces bestowing unique characteristic and social interaction within the community.
Guangci Charity Park Social Housing is designed with the environment, sustainability, and community in mind. This project has been awarded the highest sustainability certificate of Golden Label for both Green Building and Intelligent Building. It considers passive heating strategies with Low-E glass and heat-resistant concrete to provide the optimal temperature for the living units, incorporating energy recovery ventilation to provide clean, fresh air for the living units. The building consists of systems that reutilize rainwater and reclaimed-water system for not only the units but also the sky gardens and urban farming systems.
The project reutilizes a plot that used to be a nursing and rehabilitation center for elders, children especially, people in desperate need, continuing this charitable spirit to the social housing complex it now stands on, providing citizens with affordable housing options also opening up the community to more greenery with a newly implemented park and community connections. The design is adaptable to grow with this community. Within a year of completion, it became a model for social housing in Taiwan, the community growing alongside the project with visible speed. Guangci Charity Park Social Housing is not only a sustainable project but is essentially a project for the community.
