JerseyCity Urby is the second Urby that is realized; a new rental housing concept in the greater New York area built from the ground up with the needs of contemporary urban citizens in mind. JerseyCity Urby consists of 762 rental apartments in a 69-storey tower - with two more towers planned - and is located right on the Hudson River in the heart of JerseyCity with a five-minute subway ride away from NewYork's WorldTradeCenter. The tower shapes the new JerseyCity skyline and is the tallest building with stunning views of downtown Manhattan.
The architectural design of JerseyCity Urby reflects the playful and organic nature of the Urby brand. The tower is made up of stacked blocks creating a vertical neighborhood that focuses on openness, space and connection. The projected blocks result in an expressive and progressive architecture - like Urby itself - and at the same time create a larger diversity in unit types to serve a broader clientele. The windows are straightforward in their design celebrating daylight and views. The crown of the building is illuminated at night with an intensity that differs to reflect the activity in the building: the more people are at home, the brighter the light shines into the night.
The building is entered through a public entrance cafe instead of a lobby. The communal resident spaces include a communal kitchen, a gym, roof garden and a pool. These spaces are actively programmed and designed to foster interaction between the residents.
Urby apartments are available in S, M and L; though compact in size to keep monthly rates down, all apartments feel spacious thanks to open floorplans and big windows. With plenty of built-in storage space, fully equipped kitchens and pre-installed Wi-Fi, Urby apartments set a new standard in ready-to-move-in rental housing.
