La Cohue is a bistro in Ste-Foy that has been offering French-inspired dishes for 20 years in a classic and casual setting. The project involved creating a private lounge to host events and groups in an intimate and welcoming environment.
The lounge concept is imagined as a reinterpretation of existing elements, offering a dim and cozy ambiance. Divided into two sections through a play of textures and furnishings, the lounge evokes an almost theatrical atmosphere. On one side, the bright and cozy space features wall paneling, with built-in lighting integrated into the moldings to emphasize the curved effect of the wooden panels, a shape mirrored by the banquettes. On the other side, the lacquered floor and ceiling finishes, as well as the dark furnishings, are treated with a monochromatic black palette. This contrasting zone highlights the centerpiece of the design, creating a unique and inviting focal point.
The custom lighting fixture, created in collaboration with Tungstène, winds through the dark zone and complements the selection of pendant and wall-mounted lights, adding an elegant touch to the setting. Velvet curtain panels positioned along the sidewall and in front of the window bring softness and warmth to the lounge. A cozy cocoon, perfect for enjoying long meals in great company!
