The McKinnon Secondary College East Campus is one of the largest vertical schools to be built in urban Melbourne and forms part of a major urban renewal development in East Bentleigh. The campus is within a new 25-hectare mixed use development with the siting and placing of this education facility being the catalyst of change for the current industrial area. As a vertical school campus for over 1000 students and situated on a site of less than 3 hectares, the Master Plan builds strong connections with adjacent existing Council facilities such as the nature reserve and football ovals.
The school provides teaching and learning areas over four levels. A sports and performing arts precinct is located at ground level with two external hardcourts, an indoor competition sized hardcourt, change rooms, canteen and multipurpose rooms, which are visible to the street and are easy to access encouraging a high level of community use.
