The idea behind the Middelfart Savings Bank design is to let the building room an entire public space with a small square, shops, and a café. All this kept together under the same big roof, in which strategically positioned windows provide a splendid view of the seaside of nearby Lillebælt. The new structure is fitted into the context of the old town and its special ambiance by being fateful to the dimensions, scale, roofs and cornice lines of the town. Retracting towards the harbour the building creates a triangular square, and here is the main entrance to the indoor square. The rest of the space is distributed on several terraces which are in direct connection with both the square and each other. These terraces are connected internally by broad staircases. We have aimed to create a building, which is a well-functioning workplace in close contact with the town surrounding it, and at the same time takes its place in town, adding some nice features to it.
