The Poly Theatre, part of the Nanshan Cultural Centre, is a response to the Poly Group's ambition and the district of Nanshan to create a platform for international culture through the mixing of commercial development, cultural and economic facilities. The traditional response can no longer suffice. A new and hybrid manifesto can be the only possible support of the diverse programs and to create a homogeneous entity and finally to ensure a strong image and a true civic landmark.
Its form helps to give the Cultural Plazas its sense of place. It is a theatre complex that is resolutely contemporary. Its glass and metal skin displays a clean, sober, and open, transparent space that symbolizes the performance arts' purity. It does not seek the visual clutter but rather a bold, confident, and transparent volume. The Poly Theatre is a state-of-the-art theatre complex that can accommodate 1500 spectators. Its staging equipment is one of the most complete, advance, and versatile. It can stage not only concerts and recitals but also dramatic dance performances and opera productions.
