PopBox is an outdoor shipping container retail and entertainment project in Saint John, Canada. Located in an existing shopping center, East Point Shopping was looking for ways to enhance their customer's shopping environment. Constructed entirely out of overhauled shipping containers, PopBox Park is an open-air pop-up mall/ market place filled with boutique retail shops, unique restaurants, and live entertainment. Bringing people together over food and drinks with shared dining space, local vendors, and a unique gathering space producing a true experience of place.
This project will provide the center for an opportunity to build new experiences. These container “villages” become a way to drive traffic while providing a fresh innovative concept targeting those customers looking for something different. This approach to renewal provides a platform for new local retailers and entrepreneurs while also allowing existing retailers or restaurateurs a chance to try out new concepts without the large upfront costs. PopBox showcases a unique position in being able to offer affordable and flexible leases for lifestyle brands, cafes, restaurants, and galleries to trade and succeed.
The modular project using modified shipping containers creates a modern, unique look. It is a fresh retail concept with a unique atmosphere that includes boutique retail, a covered food hall, bars, a children’s playground area, and a stage for live performances. The outdoor public space is full of playful experiences providing a truly memorable place to drop in and hangout.
