This project is a renovation of an existing row house located in Rye Brook, New York. The home is sited on a ravine edge that drops 30 feet to a creek. The new design captures the views of the trees and water and brings them into the home to blend with the interiors. The interiors are a combination of an open plan and a mixture of natural materials such as sisals and a natural blend of fabrics and finishes. The millwork is a combination of natural cherry wood, mahogany and ashes stained white. The entire environment is of "one" - to create a harmonious feeling with nature. As one travels through the home each level and perspective offer a different vantage point of the river and the sounds of the water. The interior design and perspective views offer a level of artistic angles, as one would view a piece of art, each vista has its own distinct interpretation and multiple levels of interpretation.FZAD also acted as the project manager. In this effort every detail of construction was reviewed and refined before it was installed. As the home started to develop three –dimensionally changes were incorporated based upon new vantage points that were not initially envisioned. Like a piece of art….the home took on a life of its own constantly being refined, modified to become something very special. The home is also state of the art. The home is “smart” wired with alarms, sound systems, movie room, humidification systems and a special dust remover unit within the HVAC mechanical system.FZAD created the architecture, the interior design, and furnishings and is also the project manager during the construction process. The project has been a process of close collaboration with the clients who has added many of their own recommendations which has strengthened the overall outcome
