Community School District 22 in Brooklyn required this new school to accommodate their growing population. The 140,000 square foot facility serves 1,100 students. A central core includes an auditorium, gymnasium, kitchen and dining spaces. Two classroom wings, one serving elementary grades and the second for intermediate grades, are linked to the central facilities core. Traditional school construction materials, brick and stone, are utilized in a modern vocabulary emphasizing the horizontal character of the massing.
