The corner site is located in a residential area north of Athens. The house occupieshalf of the site, assigning more area to the garden with views of MountPenteli. The client, who was very participative during the project, from theoutset proposed a very detailed program for this family with three childrenand two dogs. The house has two levels: the first floor contains the commonareas and four bedrooms, and the lower level houses the studio, multimediaroom, gym, guest bedrooms, service areas and garage. This level has sectionswhich open out onto the garden creating the façade given the unevenness ofthe terrain. On the roof, the client requested a lounge area to view the sky.Curved lines are the feature of this project. The project defines a gentle butforceful way of relating to the exterior space, and makes the interior spacesunique. The entrance is flanked by two curved walls, one of which is a cylindricalvolume containing the staircase. From the hall, the two wings of thehouse can be seen, separated by a narrow, deep courtyard: to the left are thevarious common areas, perfectly defined but which are perceived as a singlelarge space, to the right, the bedrooms, where the curved stone walls of thesuite stands out and which form the fireplace.Local stone, timber and wood paneling are features both inside and outside, creating continuity and harmony. The careful landscaping can be appreciatedin the garden. The existing pine trees were maintained as a hallmark on thesite, giving elegance to the lot, combined with old olive trees, vines and herbs.A long, narrow pool completes this space.
