In a remarkable collaboration between architects and other design consultants, Stantec ViBE captured the developer’s historicist vision for this unique and luxurious, high-end, fashion retail destination.
Stantec’s multi-disciplined design consultancy was fully utilized to bring to life this Shanghai, art deco-inspired village. Attention to detail was paramount to deliver over 220 custom designed store facades. Beautifully programmed common areas, including two playgrounds, provide a unique shopping experience for the Village’s discerning clientele, reminiscent of an authentic European village.
Working closely with the project architects, Stantec’s design services encompassed all environmental branding, the identity (logo mark), the selection of all exterior building materials and finishes, most of the custom decorative embellishments and metalwork, environmental amenities, special decorative paving, and environmental graphics, including signage and wayfinding.
Districts throughout the Village are defined by four boulevards radiating-out from ‘Le Croisette’ (the Village’s central dining avenue). Each boulevard celebrates a distinct art deco-inspired city, presented by their own unique style characteristics – New York, Paris, Milan, and Vienna. Le Croisette is situated along a lagoon shared with Shanghai Disney Resort. Customers arriving by ferry boat to Shanghai Village will anticipate a luxurious environment programmed to deliver the finest outdoor shopping and dining experience available in Asia.
