As an answer to "Milano Abitare 2" competition, we designed an area which include a public park with a children playground and public gardens, an under-ground parking and four buildings.
Each building of social residences also includes a public service (office, kindergarten and associations' spaces).
We designed two alternative building: a brick massive type and a light steel-frame type.
The buildings are designed to maximize the solar energy gain on the south façade, trough a system of greenhouses, and create highly illuminated private spaces on the north façade, trough glass-lodges.
The formal designed developed along studies about materials (LCA, thermal transmittance, thermal inertia, asound insulation), constructive practice (dry-construction) and economic aspects.
