Sumitomo Corporation is one of the largest worldwide sogo shosha general trading companies, and is a diversified corporation. The company was incorporated in 1919 and is a member company of the Sumitomo Group. Al Tayer Stocks was involved in the design and build of the SAY Studio designed Sumitomo Office in DIFC.
The project was negotiated directly with ATS, built over the four months in coordination with SAY Studio, and the schematic design was developed over three stages to ensure budgets were met. Featuring a colour palette of earthen tones – plenty of browns and greens – the contemporary design offers a modern twist via interesting pieces of furniture. The colour palette is also incorporated as the central theme and continued to all aspects of the space through varying textures.
Paying tribute to Sumitomo’s Japanese heritage, the design is simple, balanced and elegant. With a tonal palette and strong biophilic elements, the space offered a sense of calm, whilst supporting Sumitomo’s diverse workplace requirements. The space planning was also particularly important, and we introduced some Feng Shui elements to further enhance the functionality and flow.
