Nestled in the western precincts of Jiaojiang District, Taizhou, Zhejiang, the Taizhou Fish Market enjoys a prime position with the river gracing its northern edge, and intricately weaves "fishing" culture with tourism and leisure.
Spanning 135,500 square metres, it features 213,000 square metres of built space, including a cold storage warehouse, aquatic and dry goods wholesale markets, an exhibition hall for yellow croaker, waterfront commercial areas, retail outlets, office spaces, and a multi-storey car park.
The site is bordered to the south by a major urban thoroughfare, offering excellent transport access. This area accommodates significant industrial facilities, including a wholesale aquatic market, car parks, and cold storage. The market comprises 426 operators, with 132 permanent stores and 294 mobile stalls specialising in frozen and "ice-fresh" seafood. Efficient operations are bolstered by strategic traffic flows, ensuring connectivity and advanced cold chain management.
To the north, the project merges with Taizhou’s "One River, Two Banks" waterfront landscape, characterised by small-scale, block-style architecture and open spaces that create an animated commercial interface. This area, straddling an 800-metre riverfront, acts as an inviting gateway for visitors, spanning 70,000 square metres with thematic food and beverage outlets, experiential facilities, cultural attractions, and varied commercial functions.
This layout—dubbed "Southern Industry, Northern Tourism"—is anchored by The Fulcrum, a central activity square linking the project’s elements.
The Taizhou Fish Market is set to celebrate the unique character of Taizhou’s fishery industry, using this identity to drive commercial and tourism activities. Embracing the "Tourism Driven by Industry" concept, the project envisions the creation of a landmark powered by the dual forces of specialised industry and cultural tourism.
The aspiration is to forge an international, high-standard, and refined fishing-themed industrial and cultural tourism complex that integrally blends fisheries with tourism, education, culture, and wellness.
