The
Blue Square Spring
2009
The
objective of the installation was to investigate how one’s perception of
space may be altered in the built environment through the use of anamorphosis - a distorted projection or perspective
requiring the viewer to occupy a specific vantage point to reconstitute the
image.
With
the Blue Square I sought to insert a two-dimensional shape within a
three-dimensional realty, placing my focus on the denial of depth.
I
believe the unfamiliarity of the object within such a common space helped
strengthen the installation’s overall effect, being something people are not
accustom to seeing.
