In the heart of Tribeca, on the gold coast of lower Manhattan, this Warren Street loft residence is the result of a careful collaboration with the visionary art dealer, Helene Winer of Metro Pictures. The home is developed as a neutral and yet orchestrated backdrop for a unique collection of art and collectible furniture from dealers including Established & Sons, Johnson Trading Company, MATTER and The Future Perfect. Responsible for launching the careers of pivotal artist such as Cindy Sherman, Robert Longo and Richard Prince, Helene is no stranger to supporting emerging talent in art, design, and architecture. She came to INC with the task of converting a very conventional three-bedroom apartment into a one bedroom loft to house her collection of art and a developing collection of furniture from emerging designers such as Max Lamb, Franz West, Sebastian Wrong & Richard Woods, Studio Job, Marcel Wanders and Frank Gehry. The architectural solution was to open the unit from demising wall to demising wall, allowing uninterrupted view the length of the loft. A “core”, finished in a matte pearl grey Venetian plaster by Art In Construction was liberated from the existing plan and was developed to contain the bright white Bulthaup kitchen, laundry, and service elements of the unit. Sliding panels allow for privacy in the master and guest areas of the home. Finally, white lacquered oak flooring with silver grey graphite rubbed into the raised grain from LV Wood flooring was installed throughout.
